World Cup qualifying has concluded. The World Cup draw has taken place and now all is readiness for the world's biggest sporting event. The big question which everyone is asking is who is going to win it? Who is going to claim sport's and football's biggest prize?
Brazil is always one of the darlings of world cup betting. They have the pedigree and have a better record in the competition than anyone else. They are in a group alongside Portugal, North Korea and Ivory Coast. They should get past the group stage along with Portugal and make their way to the knockout rounds.
Hosts South Africa don't have the best world cup record but then again the hosts at the World Cup tend to exceed expectations. Eight years ago, South Korea made it all the way to the final four. The hosts are in a group with France, Uruguay and Mexico. Really any two teams from this four could proceed.
In group B, Argentina and Nigeria are there alongside Greece and South Korea. The South Americans are a dark horse with World Cup betting and could go all the way for the first time in 24 years. Nigeria are playing on their own continent and this could prove a big advantage for them.
Germany are another one of the favorites. No matter how poorly they play, they always seem to keep progressing. Serbia, Ghana and Australia are in the group along with them. Really any of the three could make it. It will come down to what happens on the day.
England and USA meet at the World Cup for the first time since 1950 when USA famously defeated their more fancied rivals. Algeria and Slovenia are also in the quartet which should see USA and England make it through. England are always liked when it comes to world cup betting but you should stay away from them unless you are predicting them to be eliminated courtesy of a penalty shootout.
Netherlands and Denmark both drew well. Japan and Cameroon are also there but the two European sides shouldn't have much difficulty in progressing to the final 16. Netherlands have never managed to go all the way. They lost two finals in the 1970's. Could this be the time they manage to do it?
Italy are the defending champions. They have also had the benefit of a ridiculously easy draw. Paraguay, Slovakia and New Zealand should be nothing more than a walk in the park for them. The only problem this poses is them peaking too soon.
The final group sees Spain, Switzerland, Honduras and Chile. Spain has firmed in World Cup betting since becoming European champions. They did suffer a shock loss to the USA at the Confederations Cups which should prove to be a blessing in disguise for them. It should mean that any complacency is now gone. Could they face Brazil in the Round of 16? If so, it would be an unbelievable match.
